Issei Ryu Bujutsu

Issei Ryu Bujutsu was derived from a blend of traditional Japanese martial arts and adapted for modern day application; developed to be practical, comply with our natural body movements, and delivers maximum effectiveness through minimum effort.

Issei Ryu Bujutsu is a self-defence martial art, not a sport martial art. This means our techniques are designed to be effective if your safety is under threat. In a competition, there are rules in place to protect the competitors; Rules such as, no scratching. However, in the real world, if you are grabbed and being dragged in to a car, it is necessary to do whatever you can to get free. Those competition rules will not apply. You will need to know the most vulnerable spots to attack using whatever you have at your disposal.

If your training consists of mostly stand-up striking techniques, what will you do if you are pushed to the ground? Will you know the best way to protect yourself, and the quickest way to get back on your feet? Will you know how to get out of a choke hold? Will you know how to escape if someone holds a knife to your throat?

Issei Ryu Bujutsu covers all four facets of martial arts: stand-up striking, stand-up grappling, ground grappling, and weaponry. The more you know, the better equipped you’ll be, regardless of the circumstance. Issue Ryu Bujutsu Website
